Fanny Wilkinson’s Green Lungs for London
This walk is part of London Open Gardens Weekend – the link will take you to the London Open Gardens Booking site

This walk takes us from Tottenham Court Road through St Giles and Bloomsbury to celebrate the life and work of Fanny Wilkinson, the first professional female landscape gardener: champion of tree planting for clean air and responsible for many of London’s parks and green spaces.
We will see where she lived, some of the public spaces she landscaped and how her legacy lives on in recent developments to public realm. On the way we will hear about her friends and networks and learn how a small group of women transformed a horticultural college for men into a women-only establishment.
7th June – 11am
