Ada Salter: Beautifying Bermondsey
A new walk to celebrate the life and achievements of Ada Salter; socialist, pacifist, environmentalist, youth-worker and Quaker. Ada was the first female Mayor in London and the first Labour woman mayor in the British Isles. Ada loved singing and plants; with her husband, local doctor and MP Dr Alfred Salter, she made a significant impact on health, housing, employment and labour relations. The Garden Suburb she created and the tree planting she championed can still be seen today. This walk explores her achievements and the ethical socialism that underpinned them.
“Excellent tour of Ada Salter’s beautiful Bermondsey with Sue McCarthy. We must all try and be a bit more Ada – an inspiration!”
“…wonderful, inspirational and very bloomin’ impressive.”

I would like to take a friend on the Ada Salter:Beautifying Bermondsey Walk as a birthday present in early July. Have you planned walks yet for July? Perhaps you could email me when you have. Look forward to hearing from you.
